ADC presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has demanded that INEC reveal which companies are printing sensitive materials for the 2027 elections. The statement, issued on Sunday, 11 October by his strategic communication director Phrank Shaibu, also questions recent changes in INEC's top staff.
Staff moves he queried: Isa Magaji Gum from Electoral Operations to the Voter Registry Department; Mrs Oluyemi Titilayo Adeyemi-Showunmi appointed to lead Electoral Operations; and Dr Lawrence Bayode named head of ICT. "INEC must explain these decisions, publish the criteria applied," he said.
On the printing contracts: Atiku said information available to him suggests more than half of INEC's sensitive materials, including presidential ballot assets, may have gone to an unnamed company believed to be based in France, and that the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Plc may print for only 15 to 17 states. He asked INEC to confirm or deny whether Hitech, or any linked company, holds a contract, citing reported business ties between the Chagoury family, which owns Hitech, and the Tinubu family. "Let there be no mistake: Nigerians will not accept a stolen election," he said.
These are Atiku's allegations. The Legit.ng report includes no INEC response and no independent verification of the France-based company claim or the state allocation figures.
