Suspected political thugs attacked supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) twice in Enugu State on Saturday, 10 October, according to a Premium Times report cited by Legit.ng.
The first attack happened at Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Emene, where supporters had gathered to receive governorship candidate Chinyeaka Ohaa. Armed hoodlums chased the crowd away with gunfire. A video shows an attacker hitting a supporter with a plank near the Air Force Base, leaving a bleeding head wound, while a man in army uniform nearby did not intervene.
Violence continued at the NDC secretariat during the campaign flag-off, where police operatives were filmed shooting toward those believed to be the attackers. Some supporters accused police and army personnel of complicity. Legit.ng could not independently verify those claims, and the Enugu police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, did not respond before publication.
Earlier incidents include an NDC meeting broken up on 12 September in Nkanu West LGA and wrecked canopies at a PDP rally in Agbani. Enugu is governed by Peter Mbah of the ruling APC.
