Arewa social media figure Al'ameen Yabo, known on X as @A__yabo, has publicly apologised to President Tinubu and said he will campaign for him in 2027, after voting for Atiku Abubakar in 2023. He posted on Wednesday, 7 October, with a photo of the president.
He called his 2023 vote "one decision I am honestly ashamed of," and listed the reforms he credits: fuel subsidy removal, naira stabilisation, the end of fuel queues, reduced ASUU disruptions, the NELFUND student support scheme, cheaper CNG and improvements in fighting insecurity. "I may not agree with everything the government is doing, but I cannot ignore the progress I believe has been made," he wrote.
"Sometimes, admitting that you made the wrong decision is not weakness. It is maturity. 2023 was Atiku. 2027 is BAT," he added, using the hashtag #ArewaForAsiwaju. Responses were mixed, with some backing his switch and others saying they regretted voting for Tinubu in 2023.
