Arise TV's The Morning Show hosts Rufai Oseni and Reuben Abati clashed again on Wednesday, 7 October, over whether INEC alone should announce election results, following comments attributed to INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan.
Oseni argued that citizens should be able to track results in real time from polling units, and suggested a separate monitoring channel or situation room. He told viewers: "Nigerians, do not mind Dr Abati. Make sure you set up your own parallel INEC and situation rooms on election day." He added: "The only crime is when you declare the final results," and warned Nigerians not to be "fooled for the second time."
Abati objected that a parallel results-monitoring structure could run counter to the established electoral process. Online, one user compared the pair to "good cop, bad cop," saying the debate drives conversation.
