Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will win re-election in 2027 if the leading opposition candidates do not unite.
Speaking on Channels Television's Morning Brief, Duke pointed to the split between Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). He recalled that in 2023 the opposition vote was fragmented among the PDP's Atiku, Obi (then in the Labour Party) and Kwankwaso.
He blamed "large egos" among the leading contenders. "We don't understand what we're doing," he said, adding: "If I look at a crystal ball... I see another horror coming up." Asked if that meant Tinubu would win, he answered: "Absolutely."
