Tottenham Hotspur secured a historic 2-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, marking only their second away league win over their London rivals in 36 years. Roberto De Zerbi's team took the lead in the second half through a costly mistake by Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders, Vanguard reported.
Chelsea's situation deteriorated shortly after when star attacker Cole Palmer received a second yellow card and was sent off. Tottenham capitalized on the numerical advantage as Mathys Tel added a second goal with a brilliant individual run, sealing Chelsea's first home defeat to Spurs since 2018.
The result moved Tottenham up to 12th position in the Premier League table following a slow start to their campaign. Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso's Chelsea side remains fourth after their recent winning run came to an end, with home supporters expressing disappointment.
