Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has tackled President Bola Tinubu over his claims that opposition parties created the ongoing hunger in the country. Atiku, who is contesting under the African Democratic Congress, argued that the president was merely attempting to escape accountability for his government's economic decisions.
Atiku's reaction followed remarks made by President Tinubu during a political rally in Kaduna, where he accused political opponents of causing widespread poverty. Responding through his campaign spokesperson, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku reminded the president that the ruling party has led the nation for over eleven consecutive years.
The opposition leader further criticized the government over key issues, including the floatation of the naira and fuel subsidy removal. He also questioned the administration's public spending records, including huge allocations listed under energy security, as well as the virtual commissioning of an incomplete expressway.
