The Plateau State Government has organized a capacity-building workshop for senior public sector executives on the responsible adoption of Artificial Intelligence. According to Channels TV, the initiative aims to boost worker productivity, enhance transparency, and modernize administrative operations in line with current international digital trends.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Caleb Mutfwang, the Secretary to the State Government, Samuel Jatau, described AI as a double-edged sword. He noted that while the technology can drastically cut workloads and enhance output, public servants must understand its limitations and handle sensitive official data with great caution.
Information Commissioner Joyce Ramnap and Permanent Secretary Gayi Timothy also stressed that adopting AI will help streamline data gathering and improve citizen communication. They insisted that deploying these emerging tools requires strict ethical standards, human supervision, and strong data privacy safeguards across all state institutions.
