Brazilian football icon Ronaldinho is returning from retirement at age 46 to represent Italian third-division team Ravenna, according to Punch. The ex-World Cup champion and Ballon d'Or recipient initially agreed to join the lower-tier club in June and has also acquired shares in the organization.
The former Barcelona and AC Milan superstar officially hung up his boots in 2015. However, Ravenna revealed that the playmaker is scheduled to make his competitive comeback on Sunday, November 15, during a derby encounter against Forli, with hopes of reaching 300 career goals.
Ravenna currently occupies second position in Group B of Italy’s third division, trailing leaders Spezia by six points. The team hopes the inclusion of the legendary midfielder will boost their chances of securing promotion back to Serie B for the first time since 2008.
