Actress Yetunde Barnabas has responded to backlash over her film Ojise (Prophet). Traditionalist Abiola Oladeyi Rosanwo's viral Facebook post argued that the film misportrays Isese practices, and she called for knowledgeable practitioners to take part in film censorship and classification.

Barnabas said she has always promoted both Isese and Christianity through her work and draws inspiration from "our culture, traditions, and spirituality." She said the film is inspired by the life of Moses Orimolade and draws on her experience with Cherubim and Seraphim worship music, and that its purpose is to preach the gospel and celebrate faith.

She said she welcomes constructive criticism but condemned curses and hatred, writing that she "honestly do[es] not understand why criticism has to become curses." An Ifa worshipper told Legit.ng that traditionalists have long been portrayed negatively in films and that filmmakers should portray them "the proper way."

The article also notes an earlier backlash over Barnabas renaming her forthcoming film from Yemoja to Olokun.
