DSS Arraigns Man in Kaduna Over Fake Tinubu Letter to US President
The Department of State Services has taken a Kaduna resident, Mubarak Abdullahi, to court over allegations of spreading a forged message supposed to be from President Bola Tinubu to the American president. The presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this information on social media.
According to Onanuga, security operatives detained the suspect in late September after he posted the disputed letter on Facebook. The presidency claimed Abdullahi admitted his actions to investigators, but the secret police proceeded to charge him with defamation alongside cybercrime offenses before a magistrate.
Meanwhile, political figure Omoyele Sowore condemned the action, accusing the current administration of deploying state security agencies to silence opposing views. As of the time of reporting, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar had not publicly made any statement regarding his supporter's arrest.
