INEC to Release Revised 2027 Election Candidates List

The Independent National Electoral Commission plans to release a revised candidate roster for the 2027 general elections after finishing its assessment, according to Punch. INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan (SAN), revealed this during a meeting with North-East staff members in Gombe State.

Amupitan explained that the review was initiated to fix issues reported to the electoral body. These problems included misspelled names of contesting candidates as well as instances where individuals received double nominations from political parties.

The commission chairperson noted that a 14-day maximum timeframe was allocated for the review before making the final documents accessible to the public. He assured that the updated roster would be published shortly as preparation for the upcoming polls continues.
