Peter Okoye, one half of the former P-Square duo, has told the Federal High Court in Lagos that he received more than $800,000 from French royalty collection society SACEM for P-Square songs. He was being questioned by the lawyer for his elder brother, Jude Okoye.

Peter said the royalties belonged to him and his twin brother Paul because they were the artists behind the songs, and that Jude was not entitled to the disputed payments. He testified that he and Paul wrote, composed and produced P-Square's music, though he acknowledged Jude directed some of the group's videos. He said he requested the royalty records because some people were interested in buying the P-Square catalogue.

Jude and his company, Northside Music Limited, face charges filed by the EFCC over alleged financial offences. Jude has pleaded not guilty. The case was adjourned until 8 and 9 December 2026, and the court has not made a final decision on the disputed royalties or the allegations.

The quarrel has drawn commentary from abroad. In August, Ripples Nigeria reported that Akon weighed in, saying he sensed something was wrong with the twins.
