Music industry businessman Tunde Perry has criticised billionaire real estate mogul King Ochacho over the money he has spent promoting his son Iceking's music. In an Instagram video on Thursday, 24 September, Perry argued that paying influencers and content creators cannot create genuine interest in a song.
According to Legit.ng, streamer Peller reportedly received gifts, including a house valued at N400 million, in exchange for promoting Iceking. Perry's warning: "70% of the people you will give money no go promote you. If you get N23 billion, the money will finish."
Ochacho has denied the premise. Legit.ng reports that he said: "I didn't give him to promote my son," in reply to questions about Peller's house.
Social media largely sided with Perry, with several users saying they had only watched clips of Iceking's songs, not full tracks. Others defended Peller's influence, citing streaming numbers. The row kept going: a viral livestream exchange saw Peller ask rapper Jeriq if he knew Iceking, and Jeriq's reply set off a new round of reactions.
