Mr Macaroni Speaks on Missing Lucrative Jobs to Earn London Master's Degree

Popular Nigerian actor and content creator Adebowale Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has revealed that he had to forgo several lucrative entertainment jobs in Nigeria to earn his master's degree in the United Kingdom, according to Punch.

The comedian recently graduated with distinction, receiving a Master of Arts in Performance (Acting) from the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London. Speaking with Saturday Beats, Adedayo stated that although he already held a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre Arts from a Nigerian university, immediate professional commitments prevented him from pursuing advanced studies earlier.

He explained that after spending years in the entertainment industry, he felt the need to refresh his craft and acquire new performance skills. However, combining his studies with his active career proved challenging, as he had to constantly travel back and forth between Lagos and London to film projects, create digital content, and attend academic sessions.

According to Punch, Adedayo’s dissertation focused on utilizing the "Theatre of the Oppressed" alongside Afrocentric performance techniques to offer audiences practical solutions for resisting sociopolitical oppression. He noted that his research interest stemmed from a desire to leverage entertainment as a powerful tool for social change and public enlightenment.

The actor expressed excitement over completing the program with distinction despite the heavy workload. He added that the newly acquired skills and techniques would enhance his work in film, stage theatre, content creation, and general public engagement in Nigeria without compromising his established artistic identity.
