2026 Projected To Be Second-Hottest Year On Record, EU Climate Monitor Says
The EU's climate service reported that 2026 is likely to be the second-hottest year recorded, driven by global warming and El Nino, according to Punch.

A political advocacy group under the name 'Tinubu Must Stay' has appealed to women and youths across the South-South region to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 to ensure the continuation of federal development initiatives.
According to Punch, the South-South Zonal Coordinator of the movement, Ogie Clement, stated this on Friday during a joint town hall meeting and industrial training session held at Tamara Hall in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State. He noted that the gathering aimed to deliver genuine skill acquisition and economic empowerment to participants.
Clement highlighted that empowering citizens should go beyond political rhetoric, emphasizing that giving young people vocational skills prevents dependency while enabling women to support their households with dignity. He stated that equipping communities with self-reliance tools remains vital for sustainable growth.
Defending the performance of the current administration, the TMS official noted that President Tinubu has made courageous policy decisions that must be sustained. He urged Nigerians not to abandon ongoing initiatives midway, likening such an action to a farmer abandoning a building at the foundation phase.
Clement highlighted specific federal interventions that have benefited the South-South zone, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and support schemes directed at oil-producing communities. He maintained that these projects demonstrate that the administration has not neglected the region.
To secure victory ahead of the 2027 general elections, Clement instructed TMS leaders across the six South-South states to push their mobilization efforts into local governments, political units, and grassroots communities. He urged members to stay united and reaffirmed the group's backing for Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
