Vanguard reported that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has promised to support the national gaming sector following a recent investment milestone. He stated on X that the funding success of a local game demonstrates the strong capacity of young Nigerian software creators.
Atiku pledged to create e-sports tournaments, offer incentives for technical facilities, and provide financial grants alongside incubators for home-grown developers. He noted that local players and creators are actively building a viable commercial industry that deserves public encouragement and export platforms to expand globally.
His remarks came after news site TechCabal reported that Vatar Inc., the developer behind Lagos Life, obtained $500,000 at a $10 million valuation. Company co-founder Shalom Rayhamen explained that intense investor interest allowed them to quickly close the funding deal to focus on game development.
