Tinubu Extends Tenures of Immigration & Correctional Service Chiefs by 18 Months
Fresh extension approved for NIS and NCS heads amid preparations for 2027 elections.

President Bola Tinubu has again ruled out any return to the petrol subsidy regime, declaring that the decision to remove it is irreversible and has put the Nigerian economy on a path to growth.
Speaking in biblical terms, Tinubu said those calling for a return to subsidy were asking the country to reverse a decision it had already taken — comparing it to asking Moses to lead the Israelites back to Egypt. He insisted the reforms, though painful, are necessary.
The statement comes amid continued public debate over rising fuel prices and the cost of living ahead of the 2027 elections. Vice President Kashim Shettima has also defended the reforms, saying the economy would have collapsed without them.
