Tinubu Extends Tenures of Immigration & Correctional Service Chiefs by 18 Months
President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month tenure extension for the heads of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS).
The extension is part of efforts to ensure continuity and stability in key security and border management agencies as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections. Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga confirmed the approvals.
Critics, including Omoyele Sowore, have described the move as recycling ineffective officials, while supporters see it as necessary for institutional memory.
