Wike Defends High Abuja Billboard Rates Ahead of 2027 Elections
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has defended high billboard fees in Abuja, stating that politics is expensive globally and the money will fund local infrastructure.

The newly reconstituted Committee on Land Matters and Chieftaincy Affairs in Ijesaland, Osun State, has urged aggrieved residents to embrace Alternative Dispute Resolution to settle lingering land and chieftaincy conflicts.
According to Punch, the secretary of the eight-member panel, Prof. Kolawole Kazeem, made the call during the committee's maiden sitting in Ilesa. Speaking on behalf of the panel's chairman, Pa Ebenezer Adefalu, Kazeem stated that the advisory body was created by the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adesuyi Hastrup, to resolve disputes peacefully across six local government areas.
The panel highlighted that over 70 per cent of chieftaincy cases being litigated in Osogbo courts originate from Ijesaland. To curb this trend, the committee aims to facilitate out-of-court settlements and lessen chieftaincy friction, while maintaining its purely advisory role.
In addition to local disagreements, Kazeem stated that the panel will partner with the Osun State Boundary Commission to handle issues affecting communities situated along state borders. The committee intends to submit petitions and work directly with the agency to fast-track resolutions for border towns in Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West.
Furthermore, the committee plans to address unlawful activities linked to land grabbers, locally known as 'Omo Onile', alongside border trespasses. Other members attending the session included Oba Peter Adebamigbe, Rev. Abiodun Osungbohun, Prof. Olu Obi, Yemisi Ariyibi, and Chief Daramola Daisi.
