US Midterms: Democrats Win Texas Governor And Senate Races, Take Control Of Congress
Democrats have won major seats in Texas and secured control of the US Congress during the 2026 midterm elections, Daily Post reports.

Billionaire technology businessman Elon Musk has reacted lightheartedly to the Republican Party's defeat in the United States midterm polls, despite spending vast sums to back their campaigns, Vanguard reports.
The Democratic Party achieved a major victory on Tuesday by taking command of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, delivering a blow to President Donald Trump's political agenda. Reacting to the results on social media platform X, Musk jokingly remarked that his space lasers failed to influence the election outcome.
Data from campaign finance monitor OpenSecrets shows that Musk spent almost half a billion dollars supporting Republican political causes. The contribution stands as the largest individual donation in a federal election cycle since rules permitting unlimited campaign funding were enacted in 2010.
Musk's contributions were largely directed to his Republican-focused America PAC and the Senate Leadership Fund super PAC. A sum of $158 million from his donations was deployed in September to back Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton in Texas. However, Paxton lost to Democratic candidate James Talarico, marking the first Democratic statewide victory in Texas since 1994.
During a victory speech in Austin, Talarico highlighted that his campaign defeated major political opponents, pointing directly to the influence of the world's richest man and the political hierarchy in Washington.
