A Department of State Services forensic investigator, Segun Kayode, has alleged in court that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai and some associates earmarked $600,000 to settle Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials and intermediaries.
Kayode, the first prosecution witness in the ongoing trial, made the claim while testifying before the Kaduna State High Court sitting in Kawo, Kaduna, presided over by Justice Darius Khobo. The testimony is part of the corruption case against the former governor.
El-Rufai’s trial resumed today, with the allegation adding a new dimension to the high-profile case that has drawn national attention. The defence is expected to respond to the claims as proceedings continue.
The development has reignited conversations about anti-graft efforts and political accountability in Nigeria. Follow the case with #Trending9ja.
