Injury Crisis Hits Super Eagles Ahead of Russia Friendly

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle is dealing with an injury crisis ahead of Nigeria’s international friendly against Russia. Captain Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out after sustaining a knock in the recent AFCON 2027 qualifier against Guinea-Bissau.

Several other players, including Raphael Onyedika, Bright Osayi-Samuel and Ridwan Popoola, have been withheld by their clubs and will not join the squad. The depleted group leaves Chelle with limited options as the team seeks a response following the 3-0 defeat in Bissau.

Chelle has insisted that Nigeria’s AFCON 2027 hopes remain alive, with crucial games against Tanzania still to come in November. The Russia friendly provides an opportunity to test available players.
