Gombe Varsity ASUU Rejects Salary Arrears, Threatens To Resume Strike
Gombe State University ASUU members have rejected their recent salary arrears and threatened a fresh strike over non-implementation of the 2025 agreement.

Indigenes of Ogun State have declared their backing for the 'Ogun for Ogun' initiative, throwing their support behind the Peoples Democratic Party governorship contender, Oladipupo Adebutu, ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election, according to Vanguard.
The commitment came during ward-level outreach events led by Adebutu alongside his running mate, Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, across diverse local government areas. The tour is focused on gathering community-level backing and introducing their seven-point policy roadmap, titled 'ITURA DE', to prospective voters.
During these gatherings, community leaders, youths, farmers, and market women turned out to receive the PDP team. Attendees highlighted pressing local difficulties, such as deteriorated rural access routes, high youth joblessness, inadequate farm inputs, and a general deficit in basic infrastructure.
Speaking at Alagada Ward within Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, a market leader identified as Mrs Folasade Ogunye explained that indigenous governance would effectively tackle grassroot problems. She noted that local traders continue to suffer from terrible access roads to markets while youths lack viable employment.
Vanguard also reported that in the Alapakooni area of Obafemi Owode, several former members of the All Progressives Congress formally dumped the party. To mark their defection, they reportedly burned brooms, which serve as the APC symbol, pointing to dissatisfaction with current leadership.
A youth coordinator in the area, Tunde Akinola, said the defectors opted to join Adebutu because they sought a candidate familiar with their local realities and capable of fulfilling campaign pledges.
