"They Are Not on Social Media": APC Chairman's Cash Transfer Remark Sparks Row

By Trending9ja Staff • • 3 min read

A row has erupted over Nigeria's cash transfer programme, reported as a N750 billion scheme paying N75,000 per beneficiary. APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda said beneficiaries lack phones and TVs, adding that "they are not on social media", a remark that has been widely shared online.

Atiku Abubakar responded by questioning how beneficiaries were identified and paid, particularly in Borno and Yobe states.

In a separate warning ahead of the 2027 elections, PRP chairman Hakeem Baba-Ahmed accused the APC of dirty politics and said about five of the eight opposition parties face court cases.

Elsewhere, 20 prospective NYSC corps members abducted on the Owerri-Onitsha road in Imo State were rescued after seven days and returned to Ibadan, Oyo State. Ten others escaped during the attack.
